Happy New Year
As the world celebrates the dawn of a new year, the Church has been celebrating its new year for over a month. We, the Church, begin our year focusing on the “Birth Narrative Cycle” with the seasons of Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany. During Advent we prepare and wait expectantly for the coming of the Christ Child. Next we celebrate Christmas which is not only the 25th of December, but continues for 12 days. In this time we rejoice in the greatest gift, the gift of Emmanuel, God with us. Epiphany follows Christmas and begins with the visit of the Magi, symbolizing the gift of Christ to all people. Epiphany is subtitled, “The Manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles”, reminding us to share this glorious gift.
